Dry & Wet Risers

Bespoke dry / wet riser solutions

Risers are essential within large scale buildings to enable the Fire Service to deliver high volumes of water throughout the building to fight a fire.

Dependent on a building’s layout and height will depend on the type of riser it requires and the location of each landing valves. Risers should only be operated by trained professionals, normally the Fire Service.

  • Dry Risers: This system is installed in buildings of up to 50m high and are systems left empty of water enabling the Fire Service to charge them with water when required. With a connector on the ground floor and valves on each floor, water is then able to be received on the upper floors.
  • Wet Risers: These are installed in buildings up to and above 50m high and are permanently charged with water from a pumped source such as a storage tank or from the main water supply. Just like dry risers, there is a connector on the ground floor and a valve on the floors above for the Fire Service to gain an adequate flow and pressure of water from.

We maintain and monitor your riser system

With the main connection for both types of riser always being on the ground floor and most commonly on the facade of a building, they are prone to damage and vandalism, therefore, it is essential to maintain and monitor the condition of your riser system.

At Fire Plus Security we can design a dry or wet riser meeting your legal requirements for any new build property but can also carry out the maintenance of your system. Contact us today.

It is recommended by the British Standards that risers should be maintained bi-annually with the system pressure tested annually and with our bespoke CRM software, we are able to provide you with a full report on the condition of your system after every maintenance.

We are proud to deliver tailored fire and security solutions across the UK.
